| | I think the hardest part of any race is figuring out the line. Mastering over and understeer through a corner is easy. It'll take you, at most, 20 minutes of continuous hard driving to get a decent feel for the car once you're experienced. Obviously this isn't mastery, but it's good enough to have a good time.
After that, you need to learn the line. The "ultimate" line is different for every car and every driver, although it doesn't deviate too far from an ideal line. On this line, you have gone through corner A in such a manner to maximize your speed through it while still setting yourself up for corner B.
I have always had difficulty finding the line in autocross. I drive too frantically and forget about the most important part - the line.
Just like life. If you get too frantic and concentrate on the moment - you forget about where the ideal line has been drawn. I think I know now. Well, maybe not. Even if I stray from the line at one point, I can always get back on it and catch up. |
